It has been used to describe the process of requesting a crowd to perform a task rather than hiring employees or consultants or contractors. This helps to bring the best of everything on the table.  In the test profession also, Crowd testing has evolved as a successful alternative. With the proliferation of the vast number of devices and various configurations, it is virtually impossible to test anything in the lab. So, crowd testing is the best solution from costing and quality perspective.
